Lost in Shadows

I'm searching for me, hiding
somewhere deep within.
A frail, pale face child; wide-eyed, trembling.
Struggling weary
against a tightly noosed rope.
High-up on tip-toe,
teetering on chair's edge.

A lost little girl,
trapped
in Failure's horizon.
Frozen somewhere between
fantasy/reality.
Tiny fingertips reaching
for compassion's fabled myth.
Returns hollow echoes of....
"May we butter your feet?"

Shh------

Can you hear her?
Her fragile heart still whispers.
Softly--so softly
on sighs of caught breaths.
I wish...
I wish....
She spends her last dream....
"I wish I had disappeared
on
yesterday's breeze...."

This is a different and very dark view of the picture prompt. It has a very eerie feel to it. Great job, and thanks so much for entering. Blessings, Patty
