I'm tired of hearing songs that glorify war
it's mean and nasty ends up being a bore
men and women ask and are gladly sent
what purpose dead, lives so poorly spent
These are not my heros
they all died in vain
all that is terrible
and the families left in pain
Mothers of dead soldiers, crying out loud
Wifes, children hurting, nothing is so proud
families uniting, now to bury their dead
no politician, here should show his head
These are not my heros
they all died in vain
all that is terrible
and the families left in pain
All the true heroes, you never hear about
all the little people, to them I give a shout
working for slave wages, to feed the family
try not to see them daily, just an anomoly
These are America's Heros
they don't die in vain
every day is the same
yet they never feel the pain
They get no benefits, no retirement
no bailout programs, on them gets spent
no fancy houses, or cars and a yatch
but they accept all this as their lot
Yes these are my heros
they don't die in vain
every day is the same
yet they never feel the pain
Author notes
