Societal Step-ladder

Missing image

It is always there,
not here

trail dark, shine far,
uphill, round-about

fairytales and frog hairs

featured

in women’s magazines ~

stretched and glossy
airbrushed faces
looking perfect-
ly

blissful
in bare-skinned,
bare-faced
lies.

Castles in skies,
as forgotten
as mother’s voice

treating a fine fable
like dire circumstance.

Unreachable fantasies;
just somewhere else to go

other than bottom rungs
of some social ladder.

    For me...

    .... it is enjoyable to be at the lowest rungs of a social ladder;
    Lol
    At least I can look up and say Miles to go before I sleep.
    Thanks for entering the contest.

    When there is no sense of inner peace a hole in the soul is created. You catch this nicely with lines about air bushes and the media lie about perfection. There is no filling the hole when it is driven about the outside being more important than the inside. Only the war of consumption, the "love of money" and finding ways to put oneself up by putting others down. It is the story of humans destroying themselves while priding themselves on the towers of Babel they create.
    Love, Tom B.
