When I found that you were gone...
I think it took a week to even settle in,
That death could feel so near, yet so far away,
At once.
And like the strains of a familiar song,
Where one looks back on the memories,
Of dances shared beneath the stars,
Of everything that seemed so right, if only for a moment.
We were young, and strong,
Invincible and proud,
Had the world by the tail,
We were laughing.
And now, to hear you're gone...
All of that crashes to a halt,
Like Icarus, we fall from glory.
We are made to believe that we can do anything,
Chase our dreams and change the world,
But then, we are gone.
We make our memories, tell our stories,
Love, live, long to realize our dreams,
If only for a moment.
Life, so beautiful, glorious, pure,
Is also fragile as spun glass.
With your passing you reminded us of that,
To take life, and squeeze every drop of living from it,
Realize our dreams and make the most of what we have,
For we never know, when our time too, is up.
