In a dream of unbending night
with eyes of all the earth pinned to skies
held by auguries paused in air
Calendars long foretold unfolded there
and none could take senses and hide
from the spectacle of light and sounds
for thundered air all around spoke in a tongue of fire
and the Sun was flat and copper dim
and moon ran in red shadows
the power of a faraway place
filled fearful minds, as if children
in a sudden flash and storm...all stood to see
and all stood as one, to see
that we share nothing more urgent
than a child's breath,
nor more needed than sweet water,
nothing can be more precious than life
and freedom is the true blessing of time
a treasure to be held dear and close
as a gift and fortune, one we know so well...
like quiet night skies and bright sunshine.
In a dream of night, when all stood as one, to see
Please tell me what you think

and I do beleive we shall gather again, yet, as one..whether it be fatal or faithful. Really well-written poem...full of a sense of surety and pwoer.

Simple many times goes unnoticed.
You said it well

This is absolutely gripping! The images, the scene, the emotion are so heightened. I found myself on edge throughout in full anticipation of something amazing and I was not disappointed. A masterful description of a cataclysmic event and poignant discovery of what important. Shame it takes so much to make everyone to come together in such a way. I love the repetition of "when we all stood as one to see" and its variations. It served as a progressively revealing chorus and an impacting final statement.
Wonderful! Literally.
