The universe is gigantic, beautiful and vast,
Containing our future, present, and past,
Endless galaxies always turn,
Stars are born and long they burn,
The beauty of which, though far away,
Words and paint cannot portray,
The planets revolve around their sun,
And all moon's paths are likewise run,
Long ago, in the depths of time,
When things were pure, of reason and rhyme,
God moved his mind, which then gave birth,
To a planet, given the name, and christened Earth.
From fire, by water, the planet then cooled,
The air changed, land had formed, and life was fueled,
Nature's laws were then decreed,
Perfect laws, made by God's deed,
Time passed, and life waxed strong,
Knowing naught of right or wrong,
Then Adam came, with Eve his wife,
And though forbade, partook of life,
Giving the start, by God's dear grace,
To what we call the Human Race.
We creatures frail, with many a fault,
Came with purpose, our souls to exalt.
By human nature we fought many a fight,
Swearing always that we were in the right,
We fought, we learned, and fields we tilled,
And slowly, slowly, with knowledge were filled,
A world discovered, far smaller than we,
The impossible then came to be.
From the universe under God's rule,
To the atom that serves as God's tool,
Many things of many minds is in-between,
From skies so blue to grass so green,
There is one thing that encompasses all,
From the very great to the very small,
This thing called love, the universal bond,
By which, of other people become we fond,
The love we share, transcending time and distance,
Will, along the long dreary road, meet resistance,
But love cannot end without out consent,
For this love we have is heaven-sent.

Great rhyme in this. The way it just flows off the tongue is great. None of it seems forced, it fits the meter. Outstanding. I really like how you ended this as well, it was a really nice twist. I'm more of the "big bang theory" type of guy, but this was pretty good. Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest.

This is beautifully flawless rhyme, with wonderful meter and flow. This is the traditional idea of poetry, and lovely. Though I don't personally believe in the Christian God, you have made me see the beauty that you see through your eyes, a mark of a talented writer.
I wish you the best of luck, and keep writing and improving your poetry. ^__^
