This is the story of Bethany Boo,
So brave and smart like Doctor Who.
She one day wondered what to do,
When over head some spaceships flew.
Suddenly she heard a squall,
As colour drained from one and all.
The flowers, grass and trees so tall,
The people, cats and mice so small.
Beth just stared with nowt to say
Across the lands and far away.
‘Why did they have to come today?
And make our world so drab and grey.'
So now she sees the spaceships land,
Upon the beach amidst the sand,
Alien creatures, hand in hand
March out in two’s so proud and grand.
Hearing now the people cry,
Beth decides to question why
‘With colour gone, you would deny
Our happy thoughts, oh my, oh my…
Their leader frowns in lost surprise,
‘We’re moving in’ he says and sighs.
‘You see, the colour hurts our eyes,
And soon no more the sun will rise.’
‘You can’t do that, you ugly creep,
An endless night will make us weep,
Without our light, we’ll only sleep’
So Beth dug in her pocket deep.
Out comes a box of rainbow dips,
She spreads the candy on her lips,
And puts her hands upon her hips,
‘It's time to go, you bunch of drips’
They shield their eyes and start to hiss,
They run and fear her rainbow kiss,
Back to their ship for drabbest bliss,
And maybe give the Earth a miss.
Spaceships leaving two by two,
As red and green and brown and blue,
Return and bathe the Earth anew,
The world is saved by Bethany Boo.

I found this very entertaining and admire your skillful mono-rhyme scheme and flowing narrative. My cojudge, unfortunately, was unable to sit through this in its entirity. He did love the picture, though, and asked so many questions about it that I ended up paraphrasing the story for him. Naturally, he took from that his own interpretation and so is now convinced that his Aunt "Beth" Elizabeth went on a "car trip" with Dr. Who in the TARDIS and kissed an dalek with candy lips... or something like that.

This appeals to the little girl in me in several ways. Quite clever and your rhyming is spot on. Lovely. Good luck in the contest!

Am sure children would be enchanted by the lyrical delivery and the creative Bethany Boo who dispels the dark by adding the colours of a rainbow kiss! T
Why not suggest this character to the BBC for a new character for Dr. Who too, you could stretch the scenario to the Doctor having to travel to CandyLapland and having to fend of aliens made of aspartamane to find the true sugar source to make the sweet colours for Bethany Boo's peaceful premise! A delightful write dear poet.
