There was never a time
when all things were not
potentially other
than they are now.
If all is motion,
then no form is eternal.
For a Form To be eternal,
it would have already had to reach
its final destination...
its permanent place of rest.
And, were such 'eternal' form ever to be--
despite exodus, diaspora, or return--
it would be devoid of history [exempted therefrom],
having never, in fact, come to be.
Hence, what of all that never was,
the never weres--
all the never-to-be
still births of history?
What became of it all...
Did it evaporate, dissipate, vanish...?
Is there still a thin film residue
on something like "History's Ceiling"?
Had Napoleon surprised with a second surge;
Had England embraced its American colonies
to welcome reform--
or, or, or...
what then? So much would be different.
As roads fork, paths unchosen
fall away. And what became
of roads left behind...
like the day just passed
never to be lived again?
One poet still speaks to me...saying,
"What was and was not points to what is."
And yet, sometimes, vaguely
I consider...
all the never-to-be
still births of history.

There was never a time
(so there always a time)
when all things were not
(so all things were)
potentially other
than they are now
all things were other than they are now?
Am I close?
If all forms change
then no form is eternal
change is eternal
change is form form is change
For a form to be eternal
it must have already reahed
its final destination
In reaching it's final destination
it is no more and cannot be at all.
It all never to be and always to be.
Even though the fork is not chosen
the probable self takes the one not taken.
What is is and what is not is
somewhere else.
So if you wonder about all the never to be still births in history
your wonder makes them so.

excellent
Ah...what I deem as eternal is something that is unaffected by time. Time continues, but it's effects to an eternal...being/thing do not take place. Whereas I view time as always has just existed...and had AP not logged me out last night there would have been a post about it in All philo ;P I repost it soon enough.
As for the poem, I got a lil jumbled in the middle, but then after I thought about it made sense. An interesting piece ;) -

**looks at her reflection in the monitor and notices a dumbfounded face staring back at her....or wait...maybe its just a dumb face. ;) ** Ok , well I know it was deep. so freaking deep I drown because I cant swim. And well.
you made me think and damn it....that should be against the law on a friday night after midnight strikes, so ....hands up.....you have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and will be misunderstood, you have a right to a lawyer, but after midnight, he wont understand a damn thing you say anyway.
So while you spend the evening in jail, I will think and come back in the morning when the oreos have stopped invading in my mind and calling to me to partake of their evilness so I can think without naked cookies in my head. ahem.
YES, Im on painkillers. Drugs make me loopy. can you tell?
:)
Smooch for you. but touch my oreos and yer toast.
oh wait.....toast sounds good too...... -
