Limpet on a Rock

Pinned, like a limpet to a rock
Immovable, solid and washed over by the stench of life
Surrounded by excuses and apologies
And the emptiness of shallow promises

Life's misgivings have become our problems
Carrying the burdens and suffering the consequences
Can we carry the weight upon our shoulders
Pinned, like a limpet to a rock

Now the souls inner strength is more powerful than doom
It waits in the darkness of our minds
Waiting to explode with vigour and enthusiasm
Waiting for the ultimate burden to kill our spirit

It waits no longer, pushing its way through
Flowing seamlessly through the grudges of life
Pushing aside the excuses and apologies
Filling the hollow emptiness with a glow of hope

It fills our gut with a feeling of wanting to survive
It gives us the will to want to succeed
Our souls force is a force to be reckoned with
Our soul is much stronger than us

In just when we think our strength has run out
The will and enthusiasm to want a better life erupts
The need to be creative, make our own way
Engulfs us, washing away the stench and the burdens

We stand up, brush ourselves off and apply OUR thinking
OUR creativity and OUR own dreams - sketch it on a pad
See the potential and move slowly towards it
Ignoring the negative moans of life

Only we can determine where we are headed
Only we can determine what the outcome will be
If we follow the souls powerful leadership
We will no longer be a limpet on a rock
