Strength Within

Strength is not gained overnight
it's not fought for or earned
nor is it anything just given away.

It's there when you claim me
as your own hoodlum kid
believing in me when I don't.

It takes a lot of strength
to admit when I done wrong
but your always there for me.

Helping me though tough times
when all I want to do
is scream, shout and throw things.

You're the one that's telling me
to chill out and it'll be fine
defusing my blown fuse.

I tried to bite you once
that turned out to be a mistake
a lesson learned and never forgot.

You show me lots of new things
it's hard to keep track of it all
its all strength in your love.

Unfortunately I feel there isn't
anything I can do in return
I'm weak it's all I've ever been.

All the while you've been
the way you always have
strong and by my side.

Every step of the way
never letting me fail
but being there when I fall down.

It's the only kind of strength
I have ever needed in my life
your the only one who realized it.

All that you do I thank you
from a shoulder to cry on
to encouraging words.

And all I can find myself saying
is the most simplest words
I love you and thank you dad.
