Celebrations

That time of year is getting near
When joy is shared by all those friends
Who work with you or play with you
From year's beginning to its end

My dream is for that peace and joy
To spread through the world we know
Overcome all the conflicts and fights
Let  love and courtesy show

Then the spirit we often talk about
Peace and goodwill to all
Will really have an impact
Contentment for us all

What a lovely view of a commercialized mess! The beauty of Christmas is what the holiday represents and NOT the almighty dollar, contrary to what mass media exploits. Thank you for your positive message. Good luck in the contest!

It is really a great shame that the commercial interests have turned a time of peace and friendship into a frenzied spending spree. Many thanks for your comment and support.

I agree with your optimistic view. I should learn to be less cynical I think. This flows beautifully as all of your work does. You have influenced me to be more fluid & poetic with much of my work. You are right, if it doesn't flow well it may as well be prose. But therein lies the problem for us poets....are we trapped by the language we use ... or do we utilise the language to our own advantage? Answers on a postcard to 'Poets Anonymous' anytime in the next decade... LOL

Us poets are trapped by the language we use, yet we are also able to utilise that same language to our own advantage. It takes a little more effort to choose the right words to convey a poets feelings accurately but it can be done. I envy those who still speak a colourful musical language.
I really appreciate your comments, my friend, they are always worthwhile. Optimism is an indulgence, but the societry in which we live will not be harmed by it.

Great write, Bob. This is truly something we should all be wishing for. It would be great to wake up one morning and find the world in peace...not pieces. Great flow and rhythm here and a message that needs to be spread.

The commercialisation of Xmas detracts from the real message of peace, friendship and co-operation. Shame we can't keep that happy friendly atmosphere all year long.
Many thanks for your always supportive comments.

At any given time since the beginning of WW2 there has been a war of some sort going on in the world. It would be lovely to have lots of peace for a change. I dream of peace for every one. thanks for commenting, my friend.
