1. she sang like the wind picking cracks out of the window,
wanting in
2. i dug a hole in the middle of the street
3. the snowflakes dance on my tongue, sweet and cold.
the world hushed and swirling white,
the warm gust from beneath your hair
vanilla-scented.
4. the day tastes of possibilities
5. Sarah is in Cleveland
6. or San Francisco
7. i have drifts of books,
8. my brother rings to tell me,
"My alphabet starts with this letter called yuzz.
It's the letter I use to spell yuzz-a-ma-tuzz."
9. because poetry must rhyme,
and Dr Seuss is Christmas-present king
10. my dad’s second cousin,
twice removed, leans into her sister to say,
“Still waters run deep and the devil’s at the bottom”
11. the silent moon of December
12. drags our laughter into the snow.
we wear sunglasses against the glare and ignore the camera.
13. i built a wall of green grass between your half of the bed and mine
14. Sunshine dropped her
basket
15. i will stitch the threads of our life together so no one can see in
16. we will emerge with powdered wings
17. fly under the sound,
18. moje láska
19. the world whispers
20. and the silence settles thickly over the night
