Judge, Fury, and Executioner

Call in the defendant
Let trial begin
The State vs the People
How do the People plead?

They plead with their lips
They plead with their eyes
They plead with their apathy
They plead with their lies

They plead to be kept safe
From all responsibility
And from the enemies
Of different nationalities

Who is the first witness?
Let the prosecution begin
Let us prosecute the dissenters
That call for our reign to end

Are you not entertained?
With Shock and Awe on CNN?
We rained death from above
To make freedom safe again

We even televised it
To ensure there was no doubt
Your tax funded bombs
Shall truly rout them out!

You call to us for freedom
Sounding noble to yourself indeed
But you wouldn’t survive for long
Without your State-funded feed!

Your infrastructure would collapse
Like the towers did that day
No police or fire fighters
Where would you be safe?

Maybe we need this authority
Maybe we can’t see the forest for the trees
Maybe we need the sword of Damocles
Maybe we really shouldn't be free

Doubt breeds in cultured dishes
Quite virulent indeed
Fear follows suit soon enough
Both in thought and in deed

The problems of the world
Are too large to correct alone
We need the power of the state
And I’m proud to call it home

The lies grow around us
In the manner of the trees
Until we are lost and choke on brambles
In the forest of power and greed

Who will watch the watchers?
Who will end the klaxon call?
Will peace come in time?
Or does it exist when we fall?

What is the real difference?
Between the terrorist and the state?
They both bomb to incite change
Their aggression violates

The difference is the state is immortal
It can never die
It lives in the minds of men
Just like any lie

It can tell you what is right and wrong
Can take your life
Can take your home

With waves of force, it corrects
It will coerce
Of course, it hurts

It bleeds, it takes
It manipulates
Multiplying a man’s killing power

Without it we would have to stand
And use our own will power

It is a distinct possibility
It is my sincere hope
To swing to the rhythm of the new world order
At the end of the hangman’s rope

A brilliant story artistically told with elements of surreal and undeniable truth. Of a government, and what happens when control shifts from many to few then many become few. However in a few places your beat becomes just a it inconsistent.

    Oh and amazing title
