a fish swims, ascending; pond trembles to the moon
as a pony rears bright in mist, as
our hips begin slowly a dusk lit surrender
to another’s gathering dawn
this motion is jazz
forgiveness,
its surprising ascents shift time
within our heart’s rhythm,
each lengthening to the glide of a wanting tongue
beseeching along our lips
this jazz
is
love

I must agree, it makes such a vibrant, pulsating palindrome, too. What an artiste you are, in so many various degrees and depths, Danny. And with so many mediums at your disposal, too.

Lovely. You can almost feel the music with the waves of the poem. The broken lines speak, quite like jazz music does, to the inner mind's voice. My boyfriend is a jazz musician, and in a poem, this probably sums up the feeling when I hear him play.

that is the second time you've mentioned how the poetry is jazz like ,,, and it is!! I love jazz ... from The Modern Jazz Quartet, to The Yellow Jackets, to Pharoah Saunders and John Coltrane and Miles Davis all the way to Bill Evans and on and on and I really appreciate you mentioning this b ecause i tried really hard to make the poems with the word 'jazz' in them ... jazz like

I like the ending, this jazz is love. Love is very much like music with all its different rhythms. Thank you for sharing your poem with me and I wish you luck in your future writes.
