Engine running...
rain pouring...
eyes melting...
all combining together.
A melange of confusion
and dilation
mere thoughts sizzle
as cigarette smoke
curls around my fingers,
getting tangled in my
hair.
I'm lost in my own head,
shadows lurk suspicious
of some dazzling ideas
I toy with...tinkering
with my brainwaves
pulling them apart
to see how they really
work, or don't lately.
A spasm of words emerge
spilling onto the floor,
where I watch them flail
like fish out of water.
I step on them, killing
them, putting an end to
their suffering.
They're only words...
hardly worth the voice it
would take to speak them
now a days I decide.

The prompt..."In the Shadows" ...My muse is so lost these days...this just kind of spilled out of me.

Wow, I loved this piece. Great imagery and metaphors, and I really felt the emotion. I especially love the third stanza, but each one has something about it that stands out. I like the way you broke up the lines as well, I think it fits the piece well. Nice write! :-)

Powerful, oh it is torment at times to know you want to put the words together and it just doesn't come about...great capture of the good ole writers block!

Well I often say if the muse disappears then we should write the writer's block lol so I think you have done that here and it's strong work.
