A heroine they once murdered

Songbirds set faded scene
twenty-seven centuries past
in archaic times lean
when her legend was vast

She righted with justice many wrongs
until they burnt her body for witchcraft
pressured by those dull peasant throngs
who laid blame on her for evil draft

Her sword could not fight famine
only greed which causes it

She was innocence to examine
even when cruel flames were lit

This was very well spun, yet I will say it felt as if there should be more for some reason. You and your rhyme lol!!! Nice write, best wishes in the contest!

This is beautiful, Mark! I found this very intriguing and would love to learn more -- the best type of myth-writing, don't you think?
