The snow lies upon the ground,
White and Sparkling,
Blinding with it's brilliance.
The dark green trees stand tall against the bright blue sky,
swaying slightly in the cold wind,
shaking bits of snow onto the ground.
Icicles hang from the roof of the cottage,
clear and sparkly,
dripping as the sun warms them.
A Red Cardinal lands on the birdbath,
Splashing in the half frozen water,
Cleaning it's pretty beak.
A dear pauses on the hill next to the cottage,
Stopping to look for food,
pawing at the ground.
Snow begins to fall,
Blanketing the small cottage,
Covering the dirt road,
Which sparkles with tiny chips of fools gold.
Up here, in the mountains,
There are no disturbances,
Only the wonder of Winter,
And Nature's Beauty.
Author notes
This came from the images I have of my Grandparent's house in the mountains of Colorado. It's a truly beautiful place to be during winter.

Such a lovelly painting you've illustrated here. I could see it all. And when the red cardinal landed . . .what a striking contrast, made me want to read on. Your detail discriptions are just beautiful. Good luck to you,
