Butterfly toes tickling
the fingertips of your content
smell the cool glass of raspberry lemonade
sweating
against your palm
buzzing bee begging for handouts
pollen grasping his legs
humming his merry way
past your ear
Sun savoring your bare limbs
relaxed and motionless
as the lazy grass snake in the shadows
of the plastic pool
Arms strong from the woodcutting
Palms calloused from the ax
Eyes sharp from the hunt
Knuckles swoll from the fighting
Nose broken from the sport
You sit in the lawn chair
Marveling at the in-laws
And how their arms have folds as the sheets
Their children have decaying mouths
And their yard has too many edges
Stubble your unspoken protest
She spends her time with them
burning her eyes out
With Soaps and Bridge and fine city living
While you tan your hide in the back yard
Making your dark haired be-freckled peace
With the sun, snake and bee
