Halle'Love!
There was once a time
In which I thought I had some friends.
I came to find, though, that this was
A dream which had no end.
I thought I had so many people
Caring for my life,
But all I've found, its truth is sound;
They cause me all my strife.
So what, then? What to do,
When most my friends care not?
My fellowship finds no resting place
In friends whose love is not.
Who then, can I put any trust?
Is there a soul so true?
Is there one who does exist,
Whose trust goes through and through?
Alas! I find only one
In whom I put my faith.
I put my faith in Jesus Christ,
Who leads me, day by day.
Who else would never let me down?
Behold! I find not one,
For all have let me fall so far,
But this, He's never done!
All earthly friends, they let me down.
They shove me to and fro.
They shun me, scourge my soul to pain,
A pain I do not show.
But He, He lifts me up so high,
I find it hard to fall,
And even if I do fall down,
He lifts me up so tall.
I ne'er put my faith in one,
Aside from He who leads.
He leads His flock to waters still;
For us, He gladly bleeds!
There are so few who follow Him,
A shame, find it I so,
For who would try avoiding Him,
Whose love is all I know?
But there are those who claim His Name,
Yet show Him, they do not.
They fake their love in all respects;
His wrath for them burns hot!
So far, I've found so very few,
Who follow Him alway.
They are so few and far-between,
Who walk with Him today.
My first true love, it was my Lord,
The One to love me back,
For all the rest, they turned away;
Their love was an attack!
I tried to find an earthly love
To love me half the same.
I seeked it even in His sheep,
Yet all their love was lame.
My heart did sink when I did seek
A love to call my own.
But He was there to lift me back;
His love was fully shown.
I thought I was forsaken goods
When found I no one there.
No earthly love was to be found;
But I wasn't unaware.
I found His love to fill my heart
When it was dry and cold.
I'll never try to flee His flock,
For His love is untold!
