The True Changeling

Shedding the blouse that once kept me warm
the blouse in which you had kissed me that day
the day that the world had begun to change
the wind, so fierce and mighty, tossing me easy
though to you it was nothing, you were safe
the sky had grown misted, threatening,
and you laughed so merrily, your smile enchanting.
That was before the night of our first love
when we had sat in the moonlight so desiring
a taste of each others lips, like flowers budding
how could we deny ourselves, when it was in reach?
so we stretched in the partial darkness again
familiar taste of your lips my faithless elixir
that promised me strength and a forever love.
I shared all that I could possibly share,
in return for what you had promised me through
those sensual kisses that sanded my heart raw
breaking it like glass in a threat of shattering.
So, I stand, my chest bared to the wind
defying it, for how it had changed the world,
how it had changed you and stole you away
so you are not my own, my one and only.
Denying us the love that we had once had,
I deny myself the basic comforts of civility,
and embrace the terrifying love of nature,
the one constant, the true changeling.

Author notes

"I believe in the unknown"
well, my take on witchcraft is embracing nature. (being a witch myself...) and the figure looked so hurt, this is what flowed. hope you like it.

Very impressive. A quirk for me is lack of correct punctuation and capitalization, but oh well, I know your style.

Really good imagery. My favorite lines are "So, I stand, my chest bared to the wind/defying it, for how it had changed the world," because that really does present a strong image.

Good job, and good luck in the contest!
