A Military Poem

A day to remember our troops in Iraq
A day to remember those who aren't coming back,
A day to remember the wars that tore nations apart
A day to remember the soldiers held close to heart
A day to remember the soldiers who paid the ultimate cost
A day to remember the loved ones who were lost,

A memory of a great depression years ago,
A memory of the drafted men who had to go,
A memory of the pilots who were lost at sea,
A memory of the fact that freedom isn't free,
A memory of the flowing black sand,
A memory of that far off land,

A tribute to the many troops still far away,
A  tribute to the good ol' boys who couldn't say,
A tribute to those represent what esprit de corps means,
A tribute to the Army, Navy and best of all Marines
A tribute to the young people who had to die,
A tribute to The Few, The Proud and Semper Fi,

The soldiers who've risked their lives without a thought,
The soldiers who made sure our battles were fought,
The soldiers who would still risk their lives for a lost friend,
The soldiers that people may never comprehend,
The soldiers who had to give away,
Their tomorrow for our today,
The soldiers who remind us what patriotism is all about,
Our U.S. soldiers! Over and out!
