Rinsed anguish pulled warm air
from the last breath of summer.
Vague recollections of lingering spring
paved gray paths
meandering toward
winter's resting place.
Treatment became brittle
with its resentment of maybe.
When time converted endings into tomorrow's mystery,
the "road less traveled" proved well worn.
Silence screamed on the edge of death,
filtering through feeble hands
to hands that had crossed.
Lighter shadows illuminated sketchy truths
while life slipped past the present into misty chasms
enlightening a surprised voice to rejoice.

Interesting prompt picture, the path looks ominous and it just drops off into the fog. I wish you luck on the contest and best wishes on your future writes.

This is beautifully evocative and fulfilling as I read it, the only line I am not enamoured of is the 'Frost' reminder of 'a road less traveled' but in saying that, the rest of the piece just resonates with me and i adore 'treatment is brittle with its resentment of maybe' that says so much right there!
I am so glad to find this in the contest.
