The stars, windows to the ones that are lost
The moon, the guardian to those in despair
The endless sky, symbol to the cost
Of finding a loved one all but there.
I know you're with me, here right now
I know you'll never leave, with me forever
I know you stand true to your last vow
And at the end of time, we'll be together.
It was so hard for me to say goodbye
To know that time would come between us
Begging you to stay, not knowing why
Why in faith I could no longer trust.
You meant everything to me, every waking hour
I tried to devote to you with all my heart
The love in the stars and heavens, all ours
And I know we'll never really be apart.
Goodbye dearest friend, I love you
I know we'll meet again at the end of time
Just know that my love for you was pure and true
And our love will never, ever die.
As surely as the majestic sun will rise
As certain as it signals a brand new day
I'll think of you as I watch our special moon rise
And know we'll be together always.
Author notes
I hope this was impacting enough.
Will you remember this? Was it impacting?

This is a really nice piece, with great flow and rhyme, unfortunately it is more a personal piece on loss and not what I am looking for in this contest. I really am looking for something that speaks universally with depth and emotion. Please feel free to enter another, I suggest looking at my finalist list so far to get an idea of what I am looking for. Hugs, Bunny

I have known this exact feeling. It does hurt so much to know you have to say good bye and things are never the same.

Impacting enough? Indeed. I think it's great.
