written arousal

Missing image
encased in a scented envelope
is handwritten adulation
long distance love requires such

sensations soaked in honeyed words
move an already palpitating heart
where catching breath is not possible

just to think, on their last encounter
he smothered her with great charm and wonder
tipped his hat then, said farewell

she still has his most recent letter
In her dresser, beneath the lingerie he purchased
but this morning, she breathes in his fragrance from memory

smiling at passion's present circumstance
enticed by shower’s trickle, hummed their song
his sensual aroma became her steady companion

sure, she missed him
but tucking his love-struck muse in her bra
kept him close, even when far away

This was beautiful and the story was enthralling. The images were powerful.

I think the emotion could've been stronger - the story told of love, but I didn't really feel in love. I think you need to allow the reader to connect more to the emotion in this piece in order to feel that emotion, on a personal level.

Well written though. Thank-you for the entry.

    Wow

I usually don't get down with free verse, but your words floated of the paper in such a sweet way that I had to love it...I have to admit love stinks, but you made it smell good when you said:

    encased in a scented envelope
    is handwritten adulation
    long distance love requires such

    sensations soaked in honeyed words...

    Awesome!

oooh, you got my co-judge carried away, Renee - lolol at that man!!

but i do agree with him that there is so much in this poem that speaks to us...the long-distance love being one of them

what a lovely romantic poem this is.... something so very classical and timeless about it, but then, that is how i've come to know you - and i know that you know love in all its shapes and colours too!

the tucking into the bra made me smile - that is so very feminine and it adds such a human and heart-warming quality to this poem.

a wonderful entry - what a joy to read this. thank you for such an elegant entry.

yes, she keeps stuffing my poems in her bra, and i keep telling her that's what my hands are for

I love the whole history that is gradually shown, and the sensual images. Beautifully rounded poem, with the final stanza tucking back into the first. Very nice.

love the bits of rhyme hidden in here, and the effortless way it brings to mind a scene that could easily be part of a romantic play..

a bit serious, a bit flippant, and somehow matter of fact, it leaves me smiling at the end..

    Love your wit..

As a romantic and being one who is fond of absence making the heart grow fonder this write is right up my alley. It seems as though you read my heart at one time or another. This is sensual, sincere and sensitive. Very well done, thanx, Conni
