Gentle sweeps the bubbling brook
Soft sings the nightingale
Sweetly dances willow branches
Beneath the moonlight pale
Ernest do I slip among
The gathered dewdropped petals
Ripples shimmer, stardrops glimmer
Cool mist around me settles
Dripping through the silver haze
The twilight drapes the earth
Moonbeams dancing, sweet romancing
The shadows drenched in mirth
And I upon my leafy throne
Do gaze about in awe
To cricket prattle, locust rattle
Tis music in the raw
Water laps at aged rock
Branches kiss the sky
Softened chorus fills the forest
Moon echoes with a sigh
And deep within my cobwebbed soul
There beats the faintest trust
This symphony, jade harmony
Shall someday meld with us
The mysteries of love, it seems
Have left their bloody mark
Yet here within this pallid skin
Hope has the last remark
Passion blooms in raptured notes
A tender dream inhaled
Whilst sweetly dances willow branches
Beneath the moonlight pale
