Phantom

Leave me;
Broken;
Begging for forgiveness;
Grief Sticken

In a cynical world;
Partial to time;
Without a reason;
Without a rhyme

Like a phantom;
You vanished;
Out of sight;
Out of mind

Like a phantom;
you left me;
Not a clue;
Left behind

Like a phantom;
You left me

Out of sight;
Out of mind

    This sounds very harsh and sad. What a horrible thing to be left alone and not even know the reason why!

    I've felt very lonely in the past, especially when I was a child, before I had any sense of self and took everything personally. It wasn't until years later that I began to feel it was more sad that I let anyone have that much power over me. If we get along well with ourselves (most people don't), there is no loneliness in being alone. And when we're okay alone, nobody can ever hurt us this deeply again. Easier said, I know, but the greatest achievements in life are usually not easy. As a friend of mine always says, "You want easy? Make a sandwich."

    Philosophy aside, this is a very expressive and evocative poem that obviously got me thinking.

      Thank you so very much for your wise and kind words, Mark. It is a wonder how people can have such an impact on the way we feel about ourselves as well as our over all out look on the world in general. It goes to show you, that we really do live for our fellow man. Thanks again for your comment.
