I spent all day in searching for pop bottles I could trade
to get myself some bubble gum for poppin' in the shade,
by the baseball diamond, in the park, beneath the trees,
and drive the boys all crazy, cuz I'm such a silly tease.
I bought myself a bunch of it, a gipper gob or two,
and put it all inside my mouth and started in to chew
and soon it swelled up in my mouth, so I began to blow
but what happened you won't believe, (you simply won't you know)
The bubble kept on growing like some kind of pink balloon
it wouldn't stop expanding and I worried very soon,
if this bubble got much bigger when it burst it certainly
would cover me with sticky goo, oh what a sight to see
But, then the wind came whipping up and carried me on high,
I thought to scream for help but if I did I thought I'd die
And so I held it in my teeth and pondered what to do
as there I went a sailing off into the skies so blue.
A humming bird came flying by and hovered there a bit,
Well, I was just fit to be tied and started shewing it.
And, do you know what that bird did, the little feathered brat
he gave my bubble gum a poke, what do you think of that.
I flew around all over town, til it was all deflated
and then it set me down and I must say I was elated.
So, I took all the bubble gum I still had left to chew
and gave it to the baseball team, (except for one or two)
We all sat down and had a time, just chewing and blowing and all
but I learned that day the only way to blow bubbles is SMALL!
