Orb

For what am I

that has now past on...
left as my legacy to man?

I appear to you in this image
an orb, a mystical image of flowing energy

No more in human form
captured by the lense of the living

I am the energy behind your dreams

The wisdom in your actions

A spirit driven to sharing my inner depth

The teacher vibrating in your visions

For in life I gave my all

Truth was my virtue and my guide

Compassion my master

Faith in myself and my inner power

drove me onward and upward

magic appeared everywhere my dreams were made

Now I rest

Knowing I made a difference

Knowing I did my best

The best I could possibly be within

the thoughts I thought

and

the actions I took

So see my orb

in all its glory

Shining in this hue of pastel light

A Spirit filled with a passion for the earth bound

A Spirit free to travel the universe with a rested soul

Knowing all will be well for the man that believes

and trust in his own powers of positive thought

For he is the one who will create his perfect future

I enjoyed this piece. It reminds me of something I've been contemplating as of late. Psychologists and philosophers alike have been curious of the underlying roots and meanings to dreams. Could it be possible that the "orb" is not only a spirit of divinity but also partially socially constructed?
It's like this. Our orb or our "being" is like clay. It was already there when we were born but it is ever changing based on several cultural factors. Though social construction may shape it into something, the fact remains; It's still the same piece of clay that was originally present when we were supple children.
It's a brilliant concept. Recently I MILDLY transformed from a disappointed cynic to someone who actually admires the creativity that we posess. Although the clay may have been molded by an "expert" cultural potter, it is still ours to play with. Once mankind realizes it's limits and it's freedom, the planet will be a better place.
Oh, by the way, good poem.
