Created for the said contest that is the basis for this contest. $100,000 prize.
(if I win, I'm going to invest in mechanical typewriters...)

Note that when I began I thought I was vying for a $100 "Grand Theme Song" contest, rather than a "$100 Grand" Theme Song contest... you can imagine my disappointment when I realized my error, but I trudged ahead anyway...!

The theme music is to accompany a quick-paced video montage, then play through the narrator's introducions and messages, then finally through the entrance of Regis and Kelly (dancing together, of course, with the audience keeping time and stomping their feet, if they select this piece...)

Explanatory letter I didn't get to send (because I uploaded my entry as an mp3 file):

Dear Judges,
This piece is exactly 90 seconds (45 bars at 2 seconds/bar), per contest rules. It is intended to be a richly composed, upbeat tune utilizing a classical/jazz/pop mix. It is intended to present the show's introduction richly and well, the music's quickly shifting melody should easily lend itself to video montage synchronization. The music should add a unique melodic aura to each quickly passing scene. Even though there is a harp in it, I am a guy, and easily gave it some testosterone.

The driving percussion interludes near the end are like mini hoe-downs, and should get the audience clapping in time, stomping their feet, and whooping it up. The piece is intended to be fully engaging intellectually, with enough happening within it to be able to withstand many hearings before being worn out. There is a light, humorous two-bar middle interlude to synchronize transitional video sequences to. The end sequence is intended to get Regis and Kelly dancing together as they make their initial entry (a new tradition?), the audience having been readied for it by the score, and should be eagerly awaiting the moment. The harp sequence at the end is intended to get Kelly floating away like a butterfly toward the host's chairs. The piece is intended to give everyone the broadest of smiles and best of feelings while fading seamlessly into the show.

For variation, there can be an end-of-show piece with just the dance sequence for the whole cast to dance to, and the audience to enjoy when the ending credits are run.

I included the mentioned repeat at 25 seconds to add variety and interest, rather than starting at the beginning all over again- exact repetitions being boring to the audience’s psyche. The piece can be cut to various lengths, and I will gladly lend my unique tastes, time, skills, and talent to any variations and alterations, if desired.

The piece's classical touch is intended to give that genre a popular boost, preparing the public for upcoming classical projects that I have in progress.

Originally the piece had no brass or woodwinds- it was all bass and drums, which was intriguing, but wasn’t commercial, or traditional enough for a TV show's main theme. It could be used in secondary applications.

The piece was composed and recorded in mono by choice, so I could evaluate it with one earpiece, or through one speaker). I also recorded a stereo version. Scratch that- I’ll send you the stereo version to save you from requesting it. I composed and recorded the piece on the barest of home equipment, hence the audio quality can be enhanced by running it through a professional studio if desired, playing with enhancements like reverb, flanging, phasing, looping, and the like. The piece was composed in and played through notation software, so changes and improvements can be accomplished quickly and a new version quickly recorded.

Yours Sincerely,
wbiro

    Hi wbiro

I was just using this contest to alert fellow poets of official contest.

You can ask fellow poet Andy Stephenson if he could help you convert to an mp3 file or if he knows fellow song writer(s) here who could.

    http://bventertainment.go.com/tv/buenavista/regisandkelly/contests/grandthemesong/index.html

Also, you can Google online for instructions.

Me too. I'm scrambling to come up with something to enter.

However, if we don't know the possibility exists to enter we cannot enter. I wanted to share that possibility.

I think more you are disappointed you are not able to convert to mp3... if I read correctly. I hope Andy Stephenson and other fellow AllPoetry song writers or Google can make it possible for you to convert to mp3 if you haven't yet. Good luck!!!
