Bulbous flakes fall
Upon the Druids and the Great Pine
Gathered to honor the abundance to come
Chants and fetishes proclaim eons of devotion
Ornaments and prayers hung upon a sacred timber
Seasons harvest done
Earth’s hibernation begun
Quietude and tranquility precedes the time of growing
Celestial prophecies align announcing coming jubilation
Animals low and believers await the Savior’s birth

What a lovely take on the contest prompt. I love the quiet intelligence and the original references to the holiday customs we all follow but rarely understand. Nice job. Thank you for your entry in the contest & good luck!

It does exactly what it says on the tin - a Xmas poem without mentioning all those Xmas words. I don't know, but myself I would have slipped "Reindeer; tee hee hee!" into the author notes!

The Green Man changes his habit and the colors and mask-like superhuman pattern painted on his face, sings in a new mode and unfamiliar key -- and all the world is new.
