beneath the winter sketches in this notebook lies
paper so white, and memories so thin between the sheets
that nothing more can be seen. maybe it is only a lie
just maybe? maybe it is something so true
that it can only be seen when held against the white sky
such winter sketches in black pencil.
black lead, why do you scar the paper so? be gentle
gentle when you handle me because i am hurt easily
from past attempts. we're both loners, dear, not as blank
as paper should be, but just as beautiful, if not more
than the memories that fade between the sheets. but since you came,
dear, i think i have found
a way to steal the color from the grass and from the sky, and
maybe lighten this color of black lead.
just maybe? it chokes me to think about it, and maybe
it takes enough just to die, for a few seconds, in your arms.
just maybe? this is not a love poem, my dear,
it's a letter from a victim to her killer, only so lovingly does
she embrace death by this sword. you do nothing, dear,
it is only the lie that kills me. i should die if that's what it takes to fall in love.
just maybe?

Author notes
This poem came from the heart... it is one of my most honest poems, and has never been revised. Again, writing from experience, and hoping that the person that this letter is written to never finds it and reads it... that would be embarrassing. =D Shya

Wow, I like it though, it makes a great letter.
And yeah, it could be a little weird if they read it, lol.
Thanks for your entry.
