Baby Big Sister

One day
My sister called
She sounded upset
My big older sister
She cried in my ear
I could barely hear what she was saying
Between her tears

Big sister calm right down
Tell me tell me what you found
Big sister I may be younger but calm down tell me
Tell me it all

She made me promise to never run away
Without telling her why and where before I disappeared
She went on to explain
Her baby little sister
Had ran away
With her big older boyfriend
He was two times her age

Big sister calm down
I love you
I would never do such a thing to hurt you
I would tell you the first time I thought
I wanted to run from it all

Big sister listen right now
I have no reason to leave
My parents may fight all the time
They may always yell at me
Sure my dad’s a drunk
And my mom just watches TV
But big sister I know it’ll be ok
But big sister I know I can find my way

One day my sister called
She sounded so upset
Right when she started to talk
I knew she wanted to ball
She cried in my ear
My big older sister
I could barely hear what she whispered
Through her tears

She made me promise to never run away
She went on to explain
Her baby little sister
Her other one
Had ran away
With her big older boyfriend
He was two times her age

Big sister calm down
I love you
I would never do such a thing to you
I would tell you the first time I thought
I wanted to run from it all

Big sister listen right now
I have no reason to leave
My parents may fight all the time
They may always yell at me
Sure my dad’s a drunk
And my mom just watches TV
But big sister I know it’ll be ok
But big sister I know I can find my way

Don’t worry about your little baby sister
Don’t worry please I’ll always be here
If I die before I wake
I’ll be in your heart
If I die some other day
I will always watch over you
I won’t run away
Without telling you I love you
Baby big sister I’ll be ok

Very intriguing piece. A little confusing; but I think I get the gist of it. I could feel the sadness, pain and anguish within the words. But also hope.
