Golden Winged Smile

As I stood there that day,
Looking at your grave
Eyes longing for a lie,
For that not to be you,
Still hoping that they made a mistake,
I saw you sitting on that cherry box
As it was lowered to the ground,
Golden wings upon your back
And a smile on your face
As you looked into my eyes
My own eyes followed you
As you rose into the sky
Until I could see you no more
And tears blurred my vision

They say I didn't see you
That my eyes played on me
A devilish trick
But I know they're wrong
You were there and I saw you
I, the only one, the last one to see
Your shining smile and twinkling eyes
And even now, occasionally,
When I look up to the skies
Or down at where you rest,
I can see your loving face
And the golden wings upon your back
I know you're always watching me
Like you were
On the hardest day of my life

Author notes

This is what the title of the contest made me think of. I'm Note The Sarcasm. Hope you like it. I'm not too sure about the title, so if you have any ideas, please let me know!

Wow... I guess the title could give that... I am to lame to see that before it is written, but oh well. I love this, it is great.
    Thanks for your entry.
