I see three tiny babies, their mouths are open wide
Their mother on the staircase, she looks at them with pride
At last they are together, she lost all three at birth
So now they are four spectres that are not of this earth.
Please try to understand them and don't ask them to stay
For they belong in heaven and they have lost their way
The photograph was chosen to show us their sad plight
Please listen, they are waiting to walk into the light.
Believe and it will happen, it's what they're waiting for
Their fate was cast the moment she died upon that floor
She could not live without them and so she took her life
A husband without children and then he lost his wife.
He's calling you to aid them, he's helpless otherwise
So look upon the picture and then believe your eyes
Send love and understanding and do not ridicule
To leave them ever waiting would make each one a fool.
I see three tiny babies, they cry as we draw near
A lullaby is needed to drive away their fear
A mothers hand is reaching to hold them once again
The photograph is empty as we relieve her pain.
Author notes

Wow! Nice take on the photo. If this doesn't give someone the chills, nothing will. Congrats on the silver.

Wow! This is a great take on the picture prompt. You sure did see even more in that picture. I will have to look at it again. This poem has a great rhythm and great rhyme too. I really like where you took this and thanks so much for entering. Blessings, Patty
