Special Redneck Post Card

Now I know you all out there
are broke just like me,
and I just want you to know
my gift was free.
I gathered myself some old mesquite wood
and started a fire,
cause it brings warmth and a tasty meal
where ever you are.

Ma's in the kitchin whipping up
some bacon and eggs ,
got the old camp coffee pot
a boiling in such a rage.
I found myself an old cell phone
that had a minute or two ,
and invited as many as I could
said I want to spend the day with you.

The kids are all running about
in their PJ's still,
Ma hollard out the back door
come and git your fill .
She had no idea I had rounded up
a passel of friends,
but ma has a way to stretch those vittle
it seems theres no end .

She can throw together a meal
and its lip smacking good,
it might be a skillet of hamburger gravy
but it's made by my shoog .
Not a single person ever complained
for the love took up the slack ,
and any meal is a good meal
if theres friends to pat your back .

So today we are blessed indeed
it's something given to you from me.
Can't complain for blessings
come in many forms of need .
It's a way of the country folks
we are a special breed ,
Dont need those fancy malls
or those credit cards,
Dont need drugs or tv
or those computor horrors .
Just look around and know
love doesnt come in a box,
it comes from the heart
and friends are at the very top.
