Sailing Memories
Sailing memories
What we used to be
Wild, young and free
Like eagles
Flying all around
Never touch the ground
Studied, every sound
Like regals
Picturing ourselves out on the sea of sky
Sailing on forever; never ever die
All my happy little chums and I
Never bring a tear to anybody's eye
Like sea gulls
Brought down to the ground
Bark and run around
Eating what we found
Like beagles
Picturing ourselves out on the sea of sky
Sailing on forever; never ever die
All my happy little chums and I
Never bring a tear to anybody's eye
Like sea gulls
Like sea gulls
Like sea gulls

A very lyrical work of poetry written here poet. I can almost hear a melody, wonder if it's what you had in mind when writing. I wish you well in the contest.
Much LOVE & Respect ♥
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Awesome poem. it flows so much like a song I can't help but fall in love with this. It is like a song a beatle would write, the john comment is great if that was what you were intending, if not it makes me smile anyway. This sounds so much like a Lennon song in my head it makes me laugh. Lovely take on my title. thanks. your poem really made me happy.

I dunno where my reply went, but there was one before.
I suppose as I am a songwriter it is a song if I ever get it on tape.
I feel a kinship with John. We share a birthday and I was born about the time he joined the Beatles. I can't say I'm too enthusiastic about Yoko though. Peace. -

oh, no way that is to cool. Your poem really reminded me of his songs, even without the John thing at the end. For some reason it really makes the song "Two of Us" pop up in my head, though if I am right it was written by both John and Paul, and really was not a big hit or sensation, but the lyrics are great (in my opinion)
your lucky by the way to have been able to live though their reign even if you were just very young.
and ditto about Yoko, but it must have been true love for him. He writes and says only highly of her, so if she made him happy and made him a better person she must be okay...I guess.

I dunno.
He ran off a couple of times. I think Yoko even suggested his lost weekend thing with May Pang.
Strawberry Fields and Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds are my favourite with Beatles tunes. I like a lot of his after Beatles stuff too. It's interesting to see what they did after and sort out what each brought to the group.
