I should tell you...

"How'd I let you slip away when I'm longing so to hold you? Now I'd die for one more day, 'cause there's something I should have told you... when I looked into your eyes"

Your eyes
they give me a feeling that i've so desperately needed
to be seen underneath all the guilt
and as my body corrodes,
and my own blood cells betray,
your eyes keep me alive.
I should tell you, I should tell you...
you make me whole, make me break free
there are no words to describe how
I felt when your candle burned out
another second to cling and gaze
upon the one who could make me stay
From all the days i've hidden away
the time i've spent wishing for a way out
letting the thoughts tangle in my mind
you've pulled me out
even if you can't pull yourself out.

Author notes

I absolutely LOVE AND ADORE Rent with all my heart. Literally the best musical ever written. Jonathan Larson was brilliant.

    i like this one...
    but it's not that original.
i never really like poems (even of my own) that are inspired form quotes. also, in retrospect, i like the line :

I felt when your candle burned out
another second to cling and gaze
upon the one who could make me stay

    but.....YAY RENT!
