I woke up with a headache
and it's been all downhill since --
Laid up in a hedgerow,
I stared out through a fence.
The last I'd remembered
was a hard, mind-splitting crash
as the ship self-destructed
with a blinding, wrenching flash.
I felt a stranger present
and looked up to my right --
a slow-witted young lad
gave both of us a fright.
He turned with a bound
and took to his heels.
When I think of what followed,
my blood still congeals.
I felt my shape shifting
and soon ran him down --
I demanded quite roughly
clear directions to town.
He trembled in fear
when I asked him the date:
1723 - I gasped, but too late,
the boy was too near.
My reflexes took over
and I tore out his throat.
He squealed as he died,
like a tender young shoat.
The year of my birth
was 2423 --
I'd been thrown back in time,
and my terror burst free.
My ship's wreckage littered
the ground, all about.
I'd be burned as a witch
by these superstitious louts.
I heard wolves howl in the distance
and knew in my heart
that I might have a way
to conceive a new start.
I shook off tattered clothing
and took off at a lope --
I'd reconstrue parvenu
as a space-age lycanthrope. *

This was beautifully written.
It was a new kind of write, that i thoroughly enjoyed.
especially the end when you used
lycanthrope instead of werewolf.

Wow...
i liked this...
it was like twilight zone meets the werer wolf...
being from Belfast we are all great ghost believers....
everywhere is haunted in Ireland according to the Irish....
but the were wolf always held a place in me....
normal by day....insane at night.....
like a secret
this was great.....
Welcome to the cheering section brother...lol

A time warp indeed!
"I'd be burned as a witch
by these superstitious louts."
Perfect anology for the period you fell into.
Awesome musing my friend in delightful rhyme that is a joy to read
It's great to see you penning again, best wishes to you in your contest!
