Darkness gathered
Light was gone
There was no peaceful slumber
She awakened her last dawn
Darkness all around her...
Darkness safe and warm...
Darkness will surround her...
Darkness without harm...
From above the star swept skies
She called to him from beyond
To come kiss her and share her last breath
By morning she would be gone
Darkness all around her...
Darkness safe and warm...
Darkness will surround her...
Darkness without harm...
He entered her room gracefully
The moonlight she loved fell across her face
And as she lies...he gently cries
Standing silently in place
Darkness all around her...
Darkness safe and warm...
Darkness will surround her...
Darkness without harm...
Life is a gift some choose
If ever we have a choice
Time is a thing we use
Thinking we have a voice
Darkness all around her...
Darkness safe and warm...
Darkness will surround her...
Darkness without harm...
Death is a fate some shun
Still it comes to every man
The three are really one
The start...the finish...the span
Darkness all around her...
Darkness safe and warm...
Darkness will surround her...
Darkness without harm...
Death is a table spread
For no mans appetite
Unlit candles shed
Darkness instead of light
Darkness all around her...
Darkness safe and warm...
Darkness will surround her...
Darkness without harm...
Death is the end of this story
He curses this nameless force
Death placed his precious angel
To rot beneath the earth.............

I like the way the flow ebbed like a lullaby, the cadence following death and darkness into the ground.

Very thought- provoking work. I especially liked the lines 'it comes to every man
The three are really one
The start...the finish...the span' as we tend to forget that life and death are complementary, one cannot exist without the other.

A very sad write, that carries some truth within, death indeed comes to us all. The imagery portrayed is nicely dark. I did find the big block a little off putting, maybe breaking into verses, just MO tho
A very neat read, good luck in your contest
