a View From the Valley

In anguish one day I asked God to defend,
His reason for not letting all of this end.
Each challenge I faced would merely bring more,
this battle-scarred warrior was losing the war.

I’d look all around, everywhere I could see,
were those who were prospering much more than me.
Through trials, and struggles, heartache, and pain,
it seemed like my efforts had all been in vain.

With little hope left, I was weary and tired.
I screamed out, “Dear God, what more is required?”
So, I asked a good friend who had been through a lot,
“How did you make it through battles you fought?”

She explained that with every setback she faced,
she kept praising God and her fear was erased.
“If you don’t learn to praise Him through serious blows,
then who will you praise when success overflows?

Perseverance breeds character, integrity, and trust.
Passion is strengthened when you do what you must.
God gave you a gift, a dream, and a goal,
but, just like a diamond, it’s wrapped up in coal.

When you glorify God through trials you face,
your faith will empower the gift of His grace.
Then when the world stands up to applaud,
you’ll understand why, and give it to God."

I cannot say this enough, but your pen is filled with a might and the glory of God. My favorite part is lines 15 and 16, "If you don't learn to prasie Him through serious blows, then who will you praise when success overflows?" What a wonderful message you tell us in just those two lines itself. Most people seem to go to God when the going gets rough, but if we give him the glory for all things, "all good things will be added unto us." This is a another wonderful poem from you. Never lay your pen to side my friend. Your friend in Poetry, Sylvia....aka Mysty Rain

wow! I clicked upon this randomly and dude, this was just the right encouragement I need! I'm reminded of Proverbs, talking about the wicked, not envying them because their glory and treasures are laid up for the righteous. Very powerful and true Kevin! Keep the pen flowin man!

    An Attack on Pride!!!!

So beautifully written and filled with true wisdom. The first few stanzas brought my mind to that scripture in Psalms that talks about "When I saw the prosperity of the wicked my foot almost slipped." But as I continued reading, it just flowed into such a practical encouraging word. It is so true and this poem flowed so well! Could I point out one tiny thing? In the 6th line........"There were those who were prospering much more then me," The insert of the word "so" between more and me would perfect the flow, in my opinion.
I loved this! I thank the Lord for your insight and encouragement. And yes, I need to always remember that his grace it sufficient and His is all the Glory!
    Amen Brother, keep penning!!!!
    Wonderful write.
