The door opened silently and the Princess walked in,
so gently she moved there was no sound within,
and her Prince he was waiting with arms open wide,
with a smile warm as sunlight to welcome his bride.

The table was laid and the wine it was poured,
with a fragrance of lilies for his true adored,
and she gracefully sat with a nod of her head,
as the hands she had known gently crumbled the bread.

So they raised crystal glasses mellow wine turned to dew,
and the cloud that they sat on commanded a view,
a kingdom so glorious you could not define,
with rainbows surrounding the endless sunshine.

Her gown changed to lilac diaphanus blue,
that matched her sweet eyes and her Princes' eyes too,
soft pink touched her cheeks as she gave him her hand,
and together they walked through their wonderful land.

'My dearest I've missed you' the Prince softly cried
'so long I have waited for you to abide,
the days have been long and my nights empty too,
tell me am I dreaming or is this really you?'

The Princess she smiled and her hand stroked his face,
'My one true desire was to be in this place,
I know you have waited for me many years,
with each treasured memory contained within tears'.

His arms folded round her and they melted away,
to start a new life where true hearts do not stray,
in the night sky where stars ever constant do roam,
is a voice gently singing 'My true love has come home'.

Author notes

My darling mum is now with dad....the Princess and her Prince together again.
I was listening to'She Moved Through The Fair' and the words seemed to rhyme with the tune.

    That last paragraph...... Just; wow

It was a little long for the rules but let's just keep that 'tween you and me
I loved this and it's the poem that's come the closest to making me cry so far. Well done.
    A beautiful dedication
Good luck and thanks for entering!

Hilly, you gave me a lump in my throat and a huge sigh followed. This is beautiful, and I know with my entire heart
that your parents are looking down on you now with pride and love. Love, Lane
