Liberals in general, black civil rights spokespeople, and white racist apologists have been brainwashing young whites into being ashamed of who they are. White people have been force fed guilt over the action of a relatively small number of our population, the slave-owners, who at their peak were never more than 20% of white population, while totally ignoring the actions of millions of white who opposed slavery, and fought against it. Can anyone name a single black leader who has, in the past 145+ years, given any gratitude to all the young white men who lost their lives fighting to free them from the slaver's whip? Have any of then ever recognized the white republican president who fought his own countrymen for their sake, and lost his own life for doing it? There is now talk of paying reparations to blacks for the slave trade that ended over 140 years ago. I think the 2 million white men who died in the Civil War is reparation enough.
No. All they ever do is rail about the abuses of the Ku Klux Klan, a fringe group that were considered terrorists by the majority of whites at the time.
We hear constantly about the unfair "Jim Crow" laws of the segregation era, but nothing about the whites who were often thrown in jail for speaking out against them.
Nowadays, there is nothing a white person can do to avoid the label of racist. There are some people who are so conditioned to blaming whitey for for everything that goes wrong (thus absolving themselves of any personal accountability whatsoever), that ANY time they don't get their way, or suffer a consequence for their own actions, they blame racism. If a black motorist gets a parking ticket, it couldn't be because he parked in a loading zone. It has to be that the police officer who issued the ticket is RACIST!
So, in response to that, many whites are becoming racist. They figure that since they've got the name, they might as well play the game. The Neo-Nazis and the Klan have enjoyed an upsurge of membership, from whites who feel that their rights are now threatened by the liberal agenda that favors everyone else over them. Affirmative Action, which has extended to include women and has tried to extend to homosexuals, has ignored the needs of lower class white people, who are often deemed ineligable for welfare, scholarships programs, and many other social assistance readily available to minorities. Blacks often dismiss these complaints, saying "White people get everything handed to them, anyway"
Do we really? I don't recall anything being given to me without me having to earn it.
Black people are encouraged to be proud of those of their own race that have made history, as are Asians, Native Americans, and Hispanics, but The White contribution to history is is being systematicly reduced to 2 things, slavery and Hitler. people of all races drive cars, but are whites allowed to say that the internal-cumbustion engine that powers them was invented by a white man, as was the generator that powers most homes, and the appliances in most kitchens? No, we are not, because that would be RACIST. And they say that they are being discriminated against.
So, white people, hold your head up high, and stand up for your rights.

While I think you have an extreme view on this topic, I can't argue with you. Over on the forum boards I quite often get in heated debates over multiculturalism. I believe differing cultures can not co-habitate. Asians live in Asia, Arabs live in the middle east, Zulu's live where ever they live. English speaking people live in English speaking countries. It is expecting way too much for one culture to adapt to another culture. We all have our space. If we all live according to our culture and we don't overlap into the culture of others, we would have world peace.
I know this was slightly off track but I figgered it worth saying .... and white people will always be racists, because non white people will keep saying so. -

there is much truth in this. I want equality as well as anyone else. But not if it means i must be ashamed of being me. Growing up in a racially mixed neighborhood I had friends of all races and relgions but also learned that racism is a two sided coin. I do remember the immigrant Irish fighting & dying by the tens of thousands in the civil war for a cause and country not yet their own. But revisionist history tends to change things.

What about the Holocaust, the torture of the aborigenes in Australia, and other islands. Even the abuses of their own people! And as for repartions? I think they should be paid, because the people recieving thema re usually in not-great circumstances which may have been a lot better had their roots not been in slavery. And all the stuff about white people inventing so many things ... yeah, that was beacuse they were given the oppurtunity to; there is nothing special abut some one being given a box a Lincoln Logs and making a cabin, but there is something incredible about some one sitting on the forest floor and making a cabin that stands out of dead, brittle twigs. And, furthermore, rascism is also defined as putting one race above all others, or even above one other, and that is exactly what you are doing: on this page at the very least, you are the only rascist I see. In response- I have to say just from what I have noticed that both sides of the coin- have people who *cry poor me*...
There are a lot of things I don't agree with regarding use of race as an excuse- however- whether a person is of color or not- society in some ways does discriminate-
I Respect President Elect Obama for NOT crying racism throughout his campaign- others did it trying to speak on his behalf- which was not on his behalf but their own-or another persons
I believe in the content of a person's character not the color of the coat worn Others may disagree- but then who is right and who is wrong?

Desire, It's ironic that , of all those who responded, You alone get my point. All I want is the right to be proud of who I am, without having to feel guilty for something someone else did a long time ago. What bothers me is that there are white people who would deny me that right. the vast majority of the "whitey-bashing" I hear isn't from minorities (some is, but not most), its from white people who want to pretend that it makes them morally superior. I guess what really pisses me off was hearing a white person tell me that nothing good ever came out of the white race. That really got to me, and I had to ask who brainwashed this sucker into thinking that? or did he say that in an attempt to sound enlightened. being a bigot to your own people is still being a bigot in my book, as i'm sure it is in yours

I wonder are you part of white supremacist group your rhetoric sounds familiar. A strange concept to address on a poetry site "My opinion only." I live in the desert southwest where I hear similar critisicms concerning the Mexican some of whom still have strong ties to family in Mexico. The big concern is the guy who sneaks across the border to earn enough money to support his wife and children and perhaps his in-laws as well. In time we'll have a blended society with fewer distinctions among the peoples yet I wonder if ever we'll rid ourselves of suspicion and hate. Only time will tell in the meantime happy trails.
