yesterday
promises floated around us
like the clouds that don't make rain
and skew the pinkish
sunset light.
gossamer dreams
enveloped us in idealism
and things that could
never be true.
yesterday's tomorrow
should have been beautiful.
yesterday's tomorrow
should have been
filmy and strawberry-pink;
downy like the feathers
that fell into the sky.
yesterday's tomorrow
came too slowly
and died before i could
grasp its gauzy obscurity
with hungry fingers.
Author notes
ugh. yucky.

A delightful picturesque poem.
I enjoyed the sadness, the missed opotunities, from another day.
yesterday
promises floated around us
like the clouds that don't make rain
The optimism from the past.
gossamer dreams
enveloped us in idealism
and things that could
never be true.
Surely all our expectations have taken us on this journey.
yesterday's tomorrow
should have been
filmy and strawberry-pink;
downy like the feathers
that fell into the sky.
The sadness 'yet' joy of human expectation, even if they remain unfulfilled, that too is soon forgotten, as yesterdays tomorrow becomes todays yesterday.
Very human, loved it, thank you.

Highly philosophical. It is one of the best poems I have come across in the recent times. In a few years, this poem would certainly bring the yesterday to tomorrow. Colourful and beautiful. Great write dear. Keep penning such wonders.

beautiful imagery.
love the repetition. -
I really like this poem and I loved the lines:
'enveloped us in idealism
and things that could
never be true."
it made me feel the cynical way we look at the past.

Definitely not yucky. Like all artists, you judge your work too harshly. There are some wonderful elements in this poem and the imagery astounds me. Well done.

Rawr, not yucky. More like gorgeous.
Everything you write comes out gorgeous, sis, whether you think so or not.
"yesterday's tomorrow
should have been
filmy and strawberry-pink;
downy like the feathers
that fell into the sky."
I love the strange sensation I get when reading this.
Wow..
