i wouldn't be here if not for my world,
my wondrous world of books.
you might say it consists of nothing but paper and ink.
i don't deny that but it's not how it looks.
i know you are wrong; they are not just words,
not just black marks on a page.
they are what teach
children to learn and be sage.
they are where people
can loose their troubles and be free.
they are where the deaf can hear,
and where the blind can open up to see.
books do more then you ever knew,
if you ever thought to care.
books are more important then a sapphire ring,
and to me they are precious and rare.
Author notes
i know it's not very good, but i tried to explain my feelings well. my life really does revolve around reading, day and night

HI! I really like it!! You shouldn't critizise yourself like that in the author's notes! Be confident about your work!! It's good!

As a child, I was always getting into trouble because of my temper. Whenever it seemed the whole world was coming after me, I always found the indispensible gift of escape in books. Here is something interesting to think about, do you ever try and imagine what the voices of the characters you are reading about would sound like? Every once in a while I catch myself imagining the most ludicrous voices possible. Keep on reading! Your poem did portray how you feel.

'they are where the deaf can hear' - I love this line. Really brings your piece to life, and makes it very inspiration.
Good write, thank you for entering - and good luck in my contest.
