Wintered Spice.

Missing image

From slipper-ed satin,
across a wooden floor,
t'ward the giant fir with baubles,
angels and more...

Armchair warmth with cinnamon charm,
a faded throw kept loose and low ~
Brandied ambiance dances with firelight
coated crystal,
mingling with apple logs, aromatic pleasure.

Sleepy heads nod with excitement,
anticipation walks with careful steps
as dreams come to life, in the full circle
of Christmas past and Christmas future,
elixir of youngsters carefully mindful,tip-toeing by fragile
shadows of yesteryear's adults.

Flickering memories gaining momentum
in the excitement of long ago holidays,
Egg -nog enticed reminiscence,
rapturous applause in the heart of the home,
as the Turkey makes its final debut...

By late afternoon the children play,
a "Christmas Carol" in the bay,
with plush red velvet as a warm backdrop
we listen closely, hoping it will never stop,
and now the words are finally done,
"God bless you, everyone!".
