The Pure One

I see her there
standing alone
deep in thought
in the gentle breeze of yesterday
effervescent
not knowing she
tantalizes me
with bountiful bouquets
of her essence, her beauty
I am spell bound
yet paralyzed
by foreknowledge
how can one reach out
without reaching in
Immobilized
by paralysis of over analysis
my yesteryears and festering fears
enfeeble me
however, I am strong
but am I stronger than my procrastinations
maybe she can erase the past
reconstruct the passion
bring forth the light… again
she is fine, refined, undiluted
and I am tainted, adulterated
unclean and corrupted by my bygone relations
I watch her stroll away
I dare not follow
care not to extinguish my anonymity
fear has become me
enslaving me to obscurity
I allow my salvation to fade
with every step she takes
on her way to destiny
a tear falls
I am alone again… alas

Thank you for reading and commenting on my poetry - it brought me here to yours. This is such a touching and bittersweet piece. I agree with Anna Lee (she's a friend of mine - the ending truly tugged at my heart.
