Lives outside my mindscape
pictures on a screen
wasn’t there a bomb
or something else obscene ?

A war between two nations
where others came to die
a million dreams forgotten
on killing fields they lie.

Democracy for the chosen
shouldn’t that read all ?
Brutalised acceptance
ignorance stands tall.

Who am I to judge
am I brain washed to believe
should I take the time to care
or take the time to grieve ?

Wonderful poem. A feeling of being not able to do anything. Good luck in the contest

Things which do not touch, or which touch us so lightly that we hardly feel them, require us to reach out to them with our interest or action to have any sense of immediacy with them.
Your poem considers our ambivalence regarding unfortunate events far removed from our lives. The last verse sounds like the excuses we give ourselves for not acting or at least not caring more.
I like the rhyme and flow of this. They seem easy and natural. I especially enjoy the middle verses with their alternating male and female line endings.
