Drought

Parched,
arid ground,
gaping holes
begging for tears
from mother nature
to nurture her children.
A lone sentinel withers
beneath sun's scorching glare, a prayer
goes unheard as soft bud burns, a death
blackened by careless sighs of disregard.
Hope whispers through a breeze as storm clouds drift,
whipped into frenzy with thunderous
roll and lightning flashes as she
wakes in angered arrogance.
Yet her wrath is short lived
as blue skies appear.
Earth is silenced,
rejected,
blisters
bake.

    Thank you for your entry

Umm a hot day lol. Well done with the prompt. Good imagery and description, I am sweating as I read lol.

A one of your lines were off the syllable count. The following iswhere you went over.

"ar-id ground," = 3 should have been two

I encourage you to keep writing to read and comment.

    God Bless
    Tammy

How well we know the ravages of drought in our country and you've expressed the frustration and sadness of nature's harshness so well here.

    Best wishes in the contest.

    Love Margaret
