The Fall of Man

A Silent killer, in the tree
Hunting you, he's hunting me
The silent shade you cannot see,
He seeks us on his killing spree!

But sir, I hear he's a defender of the animals

Shut up Rooney, 'e's a beast loike one of them!

A fiend from Hell? A man of God?
A defender of the beasts abroad?
Of course he's not! He is a fraud!
Fuck his willing to maraud!
Why not go and join him then,
If you are so in love with him?
Throw down your shield, drop on all fours,
And follow your pathetic whim!

...

The hunter sat up in the trees
And peered down on the likes of these
He didn't move, he didn't breathe
Instead he listened to the breeze
It cleared his thoughts and soothed his mind
Why must love be so confined?
If truly these humans were wise,
They'd live in peace with every kind

But what of he? Why's he so real?
What consciousness does he conceal?
Or is it hate he must repeal?
He doesn't hate; What does he feel?
Vengeance for the wild beasts
That died to form these hunters' feasts?
No, surely not; That's nature's way,
But humans also kill for play
They capture birds, steal tusks and horns
And in their mind it's to adorn
They slaughter boar they find forlorn
And think that's why the beasts were born

All these actions sickened him,
They quelled his stomach to the brim
How had they become so dim
To torture life at every whim?
He dropped down to the ground below
And brought an arrow to his bow
These men will die here for their crimes
Else reassess their paradigms

...

Else reassess their paradigms

    Very Poetic

Listen Brother I just read your poem and obviously you are intelligent and very gifted. I am telling you this to let you know that I too was very gifted and intelligent and I went my own way. I was reading out of Brittanica before I started kindergarten and by the time I was 14 I thought I knew more than all the teachers so I left school and hit the streets. I shot meth for nearly 30 years and I went to prison 10 times. Finally at 40 years old the Lord opened my eyes and filled me with His Spirit. It was like a light went on and I could finally see clearly. All I am saying Jim is that God loves you and please don't wait for 20 more years to figure that out. Use the gifts that God has given you for His glory don't waste your life on getting stoned and doing whatever. He has a plan for you and the sooner you ask Him to show you what it is the happier you'll be. I will be praying for you little Brother.
    Love James

Wow, wow, wow. Breathtaking. I love this. I love the thoughts, the content; I have had many of my own thoughts similar to these. And your flow and rhyme and meter are incredible! Not forced, perfectly smooth and natural. Vocabulary is excellent, and the tale woven is a fascinating one. Draws me in and keeps me there. Excellent end. Love it all.

  • Nice poem. Keeps the reader engaged. I was half guessing that the hunter in the tree would end up being some animal like a hawk or something - thinking about mankind, but now I see early on he is called a 'man'. It's all about man's contradictions and views.
