meaning of life

I truly wonder, whats the meaning of life
Is it being the best, knowing you can’t be beaten?
Or is it something way deep inside
When you say the meaning of life, what do you mean?

Are you talking about working hard, succeeding?
Or having a really hard math problem, you spend time on, that you finally get
How about hoping, having faith and dreaming?
You stop and talk to someone you don’t normally see, talking about life, home, and debt

Maybe, a loved one after a long struggle beats out a disease
Or you realize the hidden treasures that once you couldn’t find among your home
Your family, who you love, all so out of it, couldn’t be at peace
Watching your high school graduate leave, they turn, and you don’t feel so alone

Somebody says something mean to you, all nasty and cruel
A friend, tells them to be quiet, when asked they answer,” she’s my friend.
You find a new hobby something that is completely new
Well, I don’t know, maybe that when it comes down to it, In the end,

It’s grouping together all the small joys, tiny little deeds
Making new friends, bringing together moments of the heart
Giving the bad a place in your mind, knowing what they mean
Its finding truth amidst lies, reliving times, a brand new start

The meaning of life I think, is taking the little things and always knowing
The value of the loved ones that surround you, bathe you in their light
Its uniting the tiny joys in life, and having the pile always growing
It’s finding each new puzzle pieces that go to your life

Maybe, that the meaning is not such a really big deal
It’s the little things, and  faults that make us real

You take on a big task of dechipering the meaning of life. I don't think an answer can be found and if it is, it is different for everyone.

Now a couple years after having written it- i agree. I don't think there is one meaning of life- there are many and its different for everyone and most of us won't ever really know what those meanings are for a long time.

Excellent message full of ripe imagery. It's the little things that are so important that we all seem to sometimes over-look or take for granted. It often takes a life altering event for us to truly appreciate those little things that do mean so much after all. I really like the message here.

Now, you asked for constructive criticism so here goes.

The message is beautiful but I find myself catching at the flow. It reads as more of a short (very) story or monologue than poetry. You might consider changing the form a bit to increase the flow and make it a bit easier to read.

Overall, though, the message is great and I really enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for entering!
